A few more things from Scott arrived earlier this week, including my Roy x Cone unofficial contest belt 😛
Here it is, double-sided first grade Horween vegetable tanned horsehide in natural.
Hand-stitched in subtle dual tone by Scott.
Custom spade-tip finish.
Riveted buckle holder.
Altogether a very sturdy 17.5 oz belt:
As you can see, the horse hide is unfinished and very pale in colour.
I’ve given it a quick wipe-down with some wax, and the leather is a bit darker as a result.
Looking forward to epic patina after the 2011 Roy x Cone contest.
Also, Scott was kind enough to send me this very interesting belt.
The leather is from the Wickett and Craig tannery.
An extra heavy harness leather (I measure at 16 oz) that they only produce periodically and don’t advertise.
Reminds me of the heavy-duty machining/belting leather I’ve seen for industrial purposes.
It has a very smooth, waxy surface and a nice pull-up effect due to the intense hot-stuffing of the leather.
Makes for one heavy-duty belt!
I’ve given this belt a thin application of horse oil, and it has really brought the grain to life!
The surface is also more matte now.
Evo pics will be up later~
Finally, a set of 8 coasters 🙂
4 of 11.5 oz natural cattlehide, the other 4 measuring at 18.5 oz.
