Friends often ask me why I find leather so fascinating.
A tough question, certainly I cannot answer it without writing a short essay.
One of the main reasons would be the textures – same as why I find denim so interesting.
But more so than denim, the variations in the different types of leathers are much less subtle, and the reactivity of the texturing magnificent.
To illustrate, here are some of the textures sitting on my bedside table right now:
I suppose the texturing of the grain is something too often neglected by beginner hobbyists.
Many would judge the ‘success’ of a certain leather evo primarily on colour/tonal changes, and thus become a little confused when it comes to assessing the quality of the leather.
