Finishing touches on the Gold Bond service shoes.

Done!

Finished the last little bit of refurbishing with an early morning horsehair brushing.

The fogginess is now gone, and with a couple of days walking the pull-up effect at the creases is now quite apparent πŸ™‚

Only problem with these boots is that the original shoe laces are a wee bit short.

Have to see whether I can get some longer flat-waxed cotton laces.

Anyway, close-up:

With a heat, moisture and oil treatment the original finishing coat of the leather has been peeled away, exposing the true appearance of the grain.

Of course, the natural defects become much more apparent under these circumstances…but as someone who loves leather for the sake of leather, this is a beautiful thing πŸ™‚

The creases have already made themselves quite at home too.
